Dahlia’s Vampires is going through some changes. I will be updating and revising much of the site, including a possible change in the theme of the site. No worries though, your favorite vampire stories will still be here. ;)

(Jan 7, 2009) Happy New Year!

I am currently putting the finishing touches on new stories that will be posted soon.    I wanted to address my writer friends who may be looking for some solid advice on how to improve their skills. Matt Burkett is an editor and writer who offers tips and tricks to aspiring authors looking to break into print. Along with helpful suggestions, he is documenting his own journey and experience through the publishing world. As most of us writers know, the tedious task of research and industry education can be grueling and sometimes dry. Matt's blog offers a more casual and humorous approach to the subject, rather than making us feel like we are reading stereo instructions.  I encourage anyone interested in writing or anyone trying to break into print to check out his blog.    http://mattburkett.livejournal.com/

(Nov 22, 2008) Twilight Movie Release

As an obvious Vampire fan, Twilight was a series I just couldn’t ignore. After reading the first novel, chocked full of melodramatic teenage angst, even as an adult I was hooked. The love story between Bella and Edward is that which we have all dreamed of at one point or another, and is at the heart of this modern day Romeo and Juliette.

Since announcing a Twilight movie, fans of the series have anticipated finally seeing Edward and Bella’s story unfold on the big screen. A task the filmmakers and screenwriters have seriously failed to carry out. To its diehard fans, Twilight the movie feels much like a river squished into a watering glass.

Apart from the poor acting, low production quality and shaky camera shots, Twilight the movie falls short of delivering the detailed story line and essential fine points that make us believe Edward and Bella are in love.

The awkward tension between Edward and Bella is painful to watch and unpleasantly unbelievable.  And the weak transition between their initial introduction and subsequent relationship is so rushed, that I doubt those new to Twilight would understand it.

As a fan I had to see the film, and now find myself wishing they had never made it at all. Stick to the book, because the Twilight movie does not do the book justice and is sure to disappoint..

(Nov 18, 2008) - E-mail from Anne Rice

I sent Anne Rice an e-mail, asking her if she felt that her earlier works were a rebellion against God, as she is now, strictly a Christian writer. This was her response....

I have answered the question numerous times, but I understand why people keep asking.  I invite you to my website where there is an essay on my earlier works, and I also invite you to my Youtube discussions.  I hope you will find material there that explains my spiritual journey.  I found faith again in 1998, and later, in 2002, consecrated my work to Christ.  I do not want to write any more vampire chronicles, because the ideas, and metaphors no longer work for me.  I am in a different spiritual territory, and am reborn as a Christian writer with many new projects to pursue with tremendous enthusiasm.  I am working on two different Christian series.   I am devoted to the readers of the Chronicles, and I hope and pray the books have moral and spiritual value.  Thanks for writing, and I hope you enjoy the material on my website. Anne.
